Introducing the Bag TaxStewart Collins
Update: The bag tax proceeds for December were £98 and they will go to Yorkhill Children’s Hospital!
With the Scottish Government implementing a compulsory 5p bag tax on all used bags, we at S Collins & Son have also had to implement this. However, we do realise the bag tax is seen by many as a nuisance. Because of that, we’ve tried to find a way to make this new law more useful for everyone. We will still have our small tax exempt carrier bags and, in addition to that, we will be selling lifetime jute bags. And that is exactly what they are- you only need to buy one! We will replace any broken or worn bag for you at no cost, however many time you require, so if you get one please remember to bring it to the shop every time!
We’ve also decided to donate all the proceeds from the bag tax to a different local charity of your choice every month. To do this, we will be taking suggestions on our Facebook and Twitter pages and we will give you a choice among the most popular ideas. This way, your extra pennies will go to a good cause every month! If you are interested in nominating a charity, head over to Facebook and comment with your choice. We hope this will all make for a smoother and less irritating transition.
Update: With all the help we got from our customers, we managed to raise £37 in the last weeks of October to donate to the Beatson charity and £162 in November that will go to Deafblind Scotland! Many thanks for all your help!
