Running With Diane Ramsay – Water Training

The pools not just for swimming, don’t you know! It’s also an invaluable tool for athletes to train in when they want different conditions. Let’s here what our favourite athlete, Diane Ramsay, has to say this week:

Any time I have an injury that prevents me running, I switch to the pool for most of my training sessions. Aqua jogging is one of the best ways to maintain fitness whilst injured as you can do some really hard training and closely mimic running.
I also aqua jog even when I’m not injured as it’s not as hard on your legs as running on the roads so I can still get the work done without it impacting on my body. Below is a short video of me during an aqua jogging session, it’s mostly just my head bobbing up and down and my legs going like crazy underneath the water!
Facinating! All these little tricks are a great way to get into the mind of a professional athlete!
Getting me through my aqua jogging sessions this week was Moussaka for dinner. Beef mince, aubergine, tomatoes, cream and cheese definitely feels like a treat and finished off with a spinach salad, it certainly filled me up again.
