Turkey Cooking Guidelines!

Cooking a Christmas turkey can sometimes be a nightmare! One of the most common things people get wrong is the cooking time, so we decided to make a list that helps our customers make the most of their Christmas turkeys!

First, we’ll have the weight of the bird, then it’s cooking time. Keeping it simple!


Kelly Bronze Turkeys

4kg – 2 hours 15 minutes

5kg – 2 hours 30 minutes

6kg – 2 hours 45 minutes

7kg – 3 hours 15 minutes

8kg – 3 hours 45 minutes

9kg – 3 hours 45 minutes

10kg – 4 hours

Make sure to use your Kelly Bronze Thermometer to ensure your bird is thoroughly cooked!


Our Own S Collins & Son Branded Turkeys

4kg – 2 hours 50 minutes

5kg – 3 hours 10 minutes

6kg – 3 hours 30 minutes

7kg – 3 hours 50 minutes

8kg – 4 hours 10 minutes

9kg – 4 hours 30 minutes

10kg – 4 hours 50 minutes

We sell our own thermometers in-store if you’d like to make sure that your bird is tip top after cooking!

4kg – 2 hours 50 minutes

5kg – 3 hours 10 minutes

6kg – 3 hours 30 minutes


Boneless Turkey Joints

1kg – 1 hours 30 minutes

2kg – 1 hours 50 minutes


Remember to make sure you give ample resting time for your bird after it’s cooked! You’ll want to let it rest (like a good steak) to ensure all the seasonings and flavours are drawn back into the bird as its cooling. About 30 min should be enough for the average turkey. It won’t go cold! Promise!
