S Collins & Son have tasted success in the Butcher Shop of the Year competition 2009, held in the Sheraton Mayfair Hotel in London on Tuesday 17/11/09. 
The family run butchers from Muirhead, was placed Runner Up in the prestigious competition. 

The Muirhead butchers impressed the judges in the competition that attracted over 100 entries from all over Scotland. Judges from the meat trade, catering, media and consumer sectors evaluated the shops in the event which was organised by the The Meat Trades Journal, and sponsored by Quality Meat Scotland. 

Ed Bedington, Editor of the organisers, the Meat Trades Journal said:-
