Butcher Stewart Collins has proven that when it comes to innovation in sausage production he is up there with the best. He received a Gold Award when the 2010 Scottish Sliced Sausage Plus Evaluation awards were handed out at Garfield House Hotel, Stepps on Tuesday night (5/10/10).

The judges were retired butchers and interested young foodies, like the sausages a balanced blend! With not a drop of brown sauce or an egg in sight, they savoured Scotland’s finest slices.

The evaluation organised by Scottish Craft Butchers (SCB), sought products that deviated away from the Traditional Lorne Sausage to make a square sausage with a difference. In total Scottish butchers submitted 100 entries for this evaluation held earlier this month at Dunfermline. All sorts of complimentary tastes were tried and catching the judges’ eye was S Collins and Son’s Italian Slice Sausage.

At the Awards Presentation held in Garfield House Hotel, Stepps on Tuesday night (05/10/10) Stewart Collins said:-

“Own recipe meat products are extremely important in attracting customers to our butchers’ shop. Some go miles out of their way to hunt down their favourite savouries. Sliced Sausage is such an iconic Scottish product that customers are interested in any new taste associated with it. I’m sure consumers in Muirhead will enjoy these tasty sausages.”
