S. Collins & Son were proud to sponsor a category (School of the Year) in the recent North Lanarkshire Sports Awards.
As a business we believe that it is important not only to support the local community by giving something back, but to also promote a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle. Sport is a great way to keep kids active and can help them develop many skills that can stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.
The winners of the award on the evening were Cumbernauld Academy and our congratulations go to them as well as all the runners-up. The judges were impressed with the number of extra curricular clubs that the school runs for S1 to S6 pupils and the number of local and national events they enter, which helps them maintain their Gold School Sport Award. The school also uses sport to help P7 pupils integrate into the school as well using sport to target S1 pupils who have low self esteem or who are disengaged.
This year has also seen the school launch a mental health ambassador programme with pupils trained to deliver programmes to their peers which enhances mental as well as physical well being.
Once again well done to all the schools who took part and also to North Lanarkshire Council for running the awards.
